Same for the description, if its too long, it gets the ellipsis.Īlso, here is the codepen, on bigger screens, it might look normal as the cards are flexible based on the screen sizes. But i want that if a title is too long, it gets the ellipsis style. What I am trying to achieve is that first four spans should have equal width which I already have through my grid columns set to 1fr. I tried to give fixed size in pixels to the title but it didnt work either. Now when I try to apply text-overflow: ellipsis to my #title span or #description span, it does not work. Which results in my child having not specified sizes but have size which has been decided by the parent elements gird properties. I just followed an idea that was given to me here on StackOverflow some days ago.Hello, I am using grids to layout my elements, so I am controlling the size of the child elements using the parent element. I was programming in VB.NET with WinForms until now. Gets or sets a value indicating whether the AnimatedTextBox is animated. Gets or sets the animation duration (in milliseconds). The SizeChanged event is raised and we animate Height of the visible TextBox until it has reached the actual Height of the hidden TextBox. Some text was deleted, so the Height of the hidden TextBox has decreased. Here's the state when the animation is completed. Then we animate its Height until it has reached the actual Height of the hidden TextBox. But we impose a MaxHeight to the visible TextBox, so it stays at its current Height. Here, the text of the hidden TextBox has overflowed, so the SizeChanged event is raised. So they will wrap the text when it overflows. If the AnimatedTextBox's TextWrapping property is set to Wrap, then this property has the same value for the two child TextBox(es). ![]() So we are constantly copying the text in the visible TextBox into the hidden one. When the user's writing in the AnimatedTextBox, he's writing in the blue one. The two TextBox(es) have the same height. The red rectangle is the hidden TextBox, the blue one is the visible TextBox. Basically, it's not just a TextBox, but a Grid containing two of them : one is visible and the other is hidden. Since I wanted this design feature for a software I'm working on, I created the AnimatedTextBox. The WPF TextBox control doesn't have a built-in option for animating its Height property when the text overflows onto a new line (the same for the reverse).
